A public confession
You declare publicly your salvation.
The moment you declare publicly your salvation.
Baptism is the outward declaration of an inward decision. Going under the water, we identify with the death and burial of Jesus; rising again, we identify with His resurrection. The old life is gone; a new one has begun by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead... even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Why it matters
You declare publicly your salvation.
Jesus commanded it: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them." It is a step of obedience and love.
Old patterns, old labels, and old failures are buried. You rise to walk in newness of life.
